Belted: Round 2

So, my weekend of "nothing" didn't happen, just as I thought it wouldn't. I did have a total blast though! Friday night I hung out with my babe and we watched Thelma and Louise for the...wait for it...first time ever! How have I not seen this movie before now? We both really enjoyed it. Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon acted their socks off! Saturday I was determined to get a hammock to make this weekend of "nothing" extra enjoyable. We took a "quick" trip to the Americana at Brand in Glendale to hit up Target and ended up spending oh, 5 hours or so at the mall. Whoops! That night we had more than a few drinks with a friend at a local bar and woke up hangover free. Win! Sunday was blissful and I got in tons of hammock time! We also spotted our first tiny green tomato on our tomato plant. I can't wait until I get to make my premiere tomato salad with my very own homegrown tomatoes. Sunday night Jeff and I had a date at Sherman Oaks Castle Park. We hit the batting cages and the arcade (where I creamed Jeff in a mini basketball tourney) and walked away with enough arcade tickets for several little goodies at the ticket counter. Monday, Jeff and I headed to LACMA for a bit to experience some true L.A. culture and ended that little expedition with Reese's peanut butter cup McFlurry's. We had a good friend over for dinner last night and made turkey burger sliders and watched The Bachelorette (of course) to celebrate the day. Although our weekend was action packed it was still quite relaxing.

So I'm trying something different with this belt I wasn't so sure about here.
I think I'm warming up to the belted look more when wearing with a dress since my short waist isn't as defined as it was with jeans.

Holiday Weekend

Holiday Weekend

I hope everyone is gearing up for this gorgeous and much needed three day weekend. I, however, will be gearing down. My bi-annual sinus issue is back and I've asked Jeffrey to plan nothing for this weekend so we can kick back and relax. As wonderful as this sounds, I know myself and myself does not generally allow this to happen. I'm sure things fun things will pop up and errands will need to be run, but I'd like to give myself the illusion that this will be the most laid back three days of my summer. Here's to comfy couches and hammocks in the breeze!

Beltin' it Out

I have such a strange relationship with belts. I love the look, I really do, but I am so short waisted and I feel that belts cut me in half. Perhaps it's one trend I'm not meant to rock and I can learn to be fine with that. I suppose it's important to learn what does and doesn't work for your body. Sorry I was MIA earlier this week. We had a premiere party for our show Monday and I threw my celebration mode into high gear :) Hope you're having a wonderful Wednesday!

Union Jack

It's Friday! Woo! We made it! The weekend is here and we're in the clear :) If you couldn't tell, I'm in a fairly cheesy mood this morning. My best friend finally joined Pinterest and I'm pumped to see what she starts pinning when she's on her way. Not only is Pinterest a wonderfully creative place to post inspirational ideas and beautiful images, it's great for giving you insight in to what those closest to you find inspirational. It also makes birthday and Christmas gift shopping worlds easier, hehe. If you're interested in my "pinning" there's a red button on the right hand side of the blog that will take you straight there.

Olive and Navy

Has this week seemed long to anyone else? I'm am so ready for my weekend. I've got a friend's birthday to celebrate and I'm meeting up with one of my blog/photographer/now real life friends, Katie! So those are some really great things to look forward to after a week of seemingly unfortunate events. Bad things come in three's and with the passing of my grandparent's dear sweet toy poodle, Peanut, yesterday our collective luck should be turning around. From my lips to God's ears.

Rainy Day in L.A.

Rainy Day in L.A.

The past couple of days the sky has been falling all over Los Angeles. The sun is finally starting to peek through and I couldn't be more pleased. Before our 'May' showers go away completely I thought I'd throw together my perfect Rainy Day ensemble, because I can't imagine heading out in that fabulous Burberry trench and that cheery Union Jack umbrella and not start "Singin' in the Rain."

Zac Brown Band Date Night

Jeff and I drove over from Santa Monica to Hollywood Saturday afternoon to get our hot little date night started.

We'd been wanting to try the upscale burger joint 25 Degrees, located in the famed Roosevelt Hotel, for a year or so and we finally got our chance.

We slid into our swanky booth and promptly ordered a couple of happy hour brews. This night was off to a good start!

We both ordered the #1 which was a burger topped with two kinds of cheeses, bacon, arugula, caramelized onion and thousand island dressing and came with a MOUND of french fries. So many fries!

*Warning. Gratuitous meat shot ahead.

After dinner we took our drinks out to the Roosevelt lobby and tried our best to look "Hollywood."

This was our first time at the Hollywood Bowl and we were so impressed! The arena is beautiful and the hills and Hollywood sign in the background were just perfectly picturesque. Blackberry Smoke opened the show and got the country crowd all fired up! Then, on to the big show! Zac Brown and his band sounded amazing and put on a rocking upbeat performance that lasted just over 2 and a half hours! I was out of my seat and jamming out the whole time.  This date is one for the books.

Country Fever

Jeff and I had a fantastic time at the Zac Brown Band concert Saturday!  I'll try to have a little recap ready to go for tomorrow. This weekend was a busy one spending time with friends, shopping, eating and gardening. I'm trying to redeem my past as a serial plant killer with a little help from my garden guru, Sunny. Our tiny little rooftop oasis is slowly getting greener and greener, but by golly, plants can get pricy! Here's to all the Green Thumbs out there!

Wow, "gang" two posts in a row. Perhaps I'm getting in touch with my inner street side. No. Probably not. I'm so super excited that it's "Friday, Friday..." I've been singing that song all week (my coworkers want to kill me). I'm gearing up for the Zac Brown Band concert tomorrow eeek! Getting my cowboy boots all polished up!
